Calculate the coffee you actually use
Multiply grams per brew by brews per day, then by the days between deliveries. Include other coffee you already buy and time away from home. A household using 15 g twice daily consumes 30 g per day: 210 g in seven days and 420 g in fourteen days.
A 250 g bag provides 16 complete 15 g brews with 10 g remaining. The arithmetic does not require you to throw away the remainder: carry it into the next compatible brew or record a small blend. Two 250 g bags every fourteen days leave an 80 g buffer for that household. If the buffer keeps accumulating, reduce the next delivery.
Use the coffee amount calculator for your own doses. Start with a single delivery when consumption is uncertain. A subscription discount is poor value if it creates unwanted stock or forces you to drink more coffee than you want.
| Example at 15 g per brew | Seven days | Fourteen days | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| One brew daily | 105 g | 210 g | A 250 g fortnightly bag has a modest buffer |
| Two brews daily | 210 g | 420 g | Two 250 g fortnightly bags leave 80 g |
| Four brews daily | 420 g | 840 g | Check whether one larger bag or divided deliveries fits storage |
| Weekdays only, two brews daily | 150 g per five-day week | 300 g per two five-day weeks | Calendar days and brewing days are different inputs |
Set the format and the coffee before the cadence
Whole-bean subscriptions need a suitable grinder. Preground orders need the roaster’s grind option to match your brewer; espresso is especially sensitive to equipment and basket type. Ask about grind choice rather than assuming a generic filter setting suits every dripper.
Decaf preference should be a firm constraint, not a flavor suggestion. Check whether every delivery can remain decaf, which decaffeination process is used and whether the offering changes. Decaf still contains variable residual caffeine; a seller’s zero-caffeine wording is not a medical guarantee. See the decaf guide.
If you use instant coffee or capsules, compare the required format and compatible system directly. A whole-bean discovery service is not an upgrade if it cannot make a drink in your kitchen. For capsules, count capsules per actual serving and include any double-shot habit.
Three researched services, three different eligibility checks
These are examples of buying models, not a tested ranking. Public seller policies were checked on 13 October 2026. We did not order, taste deliveries or test customer support. Product selection, prices and terms can change; confirm the selected plan at checkout.
| Service and market evidence | Useful fit | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Trade — United States | A multi-roaster service with preference and grind choices; seller says orders roast to ship within 48 hours | US address eligibility, selected bag weight, recurring delivered price, upcoming-order change cutoff and decaf preference |
| Pact — UK service | Its decaf plan offers grind choices and selectable delivery intervals; account controls include pause | Exact address coverage, selected plan weight, pause/cancel cutoff, and any prepaid commitment |
| Coffee Collective — Denmark and eligible international destinations | Whole-bean single-roaster subscription with changing coffees and account pause/cancel controls | Destination accepted at checkout, exact bags per parcel and parcels per billing period, selected delivery tracking, tax/duty treatment |

Read the policy details that change the decision
Trade’s public FAQ describes shipping across the 50 US states, with exclusions including military/diplomatic addresses, Puerto Rico and international delivery. Its subscription workflow allows changing preferences and delivery timing. A reader outside that delivery area should remove it from the shortlist before comparing coffee styles. Confirm the pending order’s change deadline and the terms of any prepaid offer on the selected plan. Trade policy and subscription details.
Pact’s terms name mainland England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands in their delivery coverage. Its published account instructions explain pausing and resuming; the selected plan page describes delivery intervals and grind choices. A pause should be confirmed in the account, not assumed from an unanswered message. Check the next dispatch and current change cutoff before a holiday. Pact terms and pause instructions.
Coffee Collective’s policy says whole beans only, with eligible countries determined by the checkout selector. It describes account pause/cancel controls and warns that cancellation after invoicing may require contact to stop that shipment. Its cadence wording needs care: confirm the number of bags in each parcel and how many parcels a billing period includes. International subscription letters are described as untracked, unlike Danish parcels. Coffee Collective shipping policy.

Compare the delivered cost in one currency
Use the final recurring charge, including shipping and applicable checkout taxes, then divide by the amount of coffee. Keep introductory discounts separate from the normal recurring price. If an overseas order may add duties or handling fees, obtain an estimate or mark that part unknown; do not call the incomplete price cheaper.
Worked example with invented amounts for arithmetic: a 500 g delivery costs 20 currency units plus 4 shipping. The delivered rate is 24 ÷ 500 = 0.048 units per gram. A 15 g brew uses 0.72 units of coffee. If you discard 100 g of that delivery, its effective rate for the 400 g actually used rises to 0.060 units per gram, or 0.90 per 15 g brew.
Do not compare 20 GBP with 20 EUR or USD as equal costs. Enter amounts in the same chosen currency after checking a current conversion and any payment fee, or retain separate totals without ranking them. The calculator does not retrieve exchange rates or promise current shop prices.
- Record bag weight, bags per parcel, parcels per charge and charge frequency separately.
- Compare normal recurring price and first-order promotion separately.
- Include shipping thresholds and the extra stock needed to reach them.
- Include grinder/filter/capsule compatibility costs when changing format.
- Treat unverified tax, duty, tracking or cancellation details as unresolved purchasing conditions.
Make the next shipment easy to change
Put the next processing deadline in your own calendar after subscribing. When traveling, pause before that deadline, then check the account’s confirmation and next scheduled date. If an invoice or dispatch already exists, a general pause may affect only later orders; read the service’s rule for the pending one.
When a delivery is late, estimate the remaining coffee by weight instead of immediately adding a second recurring service. Use a local bag or compatible instant option if needed. If two bags arrive together, use the storage plan to separate daily use from sealed surplus.
After two deliveries, review actual grams used, unwanted leftovers, flavor preferences and change effort. Stay with the plan if it fits. Adjust cadence or quantity if coffee accumulates. Switch only when you can name what the next service should improve.
A subscription brief you can reuse
Write this before opening a shop: “I need ___ g across ___ brewing days, in ___ grind/format, with ___ roast/taste and ___ caffeine preference. Deliver to ___ . My maximum normal delivered cost is ___ in ___ currency. I need to pause by ___ and receive confirmation. I prefer ___ bags per parcel and ___ parcels per month.”
If a seller cannot answer a necessary item, buy a one-off bag while you resolve it. A useful recommendation ends with an eligible, manageable plan; it does not require an automatic renewal.
