This static site has no account system, analytics script, advertising pixel, newsletter form or application database. Tool calculations happen in your browser. Starting or pausing the brew timer stores its recipe and time anchor locally for reload recovery (up to 24 hours); Reset discards that session. No caffeine entries are stored. The hosting provider may process standard request data such as IP addresses and requested URLs to deliver and protect the website; Coffee Jacob does not claim that web browsing is anonymous.

Shareable recipe links contain selected brewing values in their URL. Anyone you share a link with can read those values. Do not put private information into a shared link. Caffeine entries and bag-label text are deliberately excluded from generated query strings.

A one-time cache refresh

The website asks supporting browsers to refresh older downloaded site files once. This cache instruction does not request deletion of saved journal entries, timer storage or cookies. A functional cookie named coffeejacob_cache records that the instruction was sent, for up to one year. Its value is the same for everyone; it contains no identifier, notes or advertising data. It prevents repeated cache refreshes and does not track your visits.

Journal storage

Only pressing a save control writes a recipe, shopping brief or tasting note to local storage on this browser and origin. Notes do not automatically synchronize across browsers or devices. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to see them. Clearing site data or using temporary browsing can erase them.

On the journal page, export notes as JSON, import an exported file, delete one entry or delete all entries. A downloaded backup is your file; deleting browser entries does not delete exported copies. Keep sensitive personal information out of coffee notes.

External sources

Following a manufacturer, researcher or other reference link takes you to a separate site with its own privacy practices. Roast-listening recordings load from Sweet Maria’s only after you choose a recording. That request shares standard connection data with the media host; no audio loads before that action. We do not embed tracking widgets.
